Scarless Mole Removal

Ellman Scarless Mole Removal

Tired of looking at that mole on your face?   Thanks to radio wave technology, many unsightly growths and facial veins can be removed, resulting in smoother, more attractive skin.   When radiowaves are used instead of a scalpel or laser, only the tissue immediately adjacent to the wire electrode is affected.    Ellman eliminates the need for sutures and scars for the removal of moles, tags, seborrheic keratosis, facial veins and capillaries, and cherry angioma.
Radiosurgery uses the latest in diathermy technology, the Ellman Surgitron to literally shave the mole away until it is smooth with the skin surface.   The Ellman can do this and not leave a scar because the Radiofrequency energy does not spread into the surrounding tissues causing damage to normal tissue.  This technique will not work on flat moles as it will leave a depressed scar. This technique is mostly used on cosmetic moles, not moles where there is a concern regarding cancer.
Your moles will be checked to determine if it is suitable to be removed with the Ellman Surgitron.  Dr. Bartels will check for suspicious moles and if there is a concern, he will discuss a biopsy.  The only limitation of the Ellman for mole removal is that the mole is flat.
A local anesthetic is used to numb the area. Once the area is numb the mole has simply shaved away until it is flush with the skin. The Ellman seals off the blood vessels as it shaves away the mole so there is no bleeding and because the skin is not cut there is no suturing required.  There is no discomfort or pain.  Immediately after the mole is removed the skin looks a little yellow in color. A dressing is applied with an ointment and a simple band-aid.  The skin where the mole was usually dried out in about 10 days but can take up to two weeks for large moles.   Healing depends on the size and depth of the mole, vein, tag or imperfection being removed Once healed the new skin is red and that redness may take four to six weeks to settle. The final appearance may be just like the surrounding skin or maybe slightly paler.
Radiowave procedures to the face, head, neck and décolletage are effective for removing many types of skin lesions, including:
  • Age spots
  • Moles and raised lesions
  • Skin tags
  • Small red facial veins
  • Warts
  • Skin surface irregularities
